Super Flame Wheel 700mm

Hey everybody thought i would share my pics of my upgraded Super Flame wheel i haven't seen anybody do it with the quad just the Hex so i thought i would post some pics. I used the RCtimer Long arms. they weight about 125 grams each which is a little heavier. the arms are pretty rigid and the quality is good i would reccomend them to anybody who wants to spin bigger props. not nearly as flexible as the S800 clone arms that rctimer used to sell or at least the ones in that video. i also upgraded to sunnysky 2216-800Kv motors running 12x4.5 gemfan carbon mix props after 8 minutes of flight these are only warm. i'm using Align-600 3d skids for landing gear and i broke my GPS antenna mast on an earlier crash so i replaced it with a champagne cork! on the underside of each engine i have 1 watt LED's that i linked in series so i can orient better in flight(can be seen even in bright daylight) and my arms are wraped in white and red electrical tap also for orientation. i hate zip ties they look so cheesy. AUW is 1600 grams with a single 3300mah 3s battery. so far flight tests have shown about the same flight times as i got with 10x4.5 props and the stock DJI motors(in the stock configuration). let me know what you think.

this whole upgrade was 32$ for arms 100$ for sunnyskys(from EPbuddy Thanks dale) and 30$ for a bunch of 12x4.5 inch props.

Looks good..... Yes..... seeing the red arms versus white helps with orientation but so does the PMU LED and so would any green (port) and red (starboard) leds that might be added.
The black arms look more professional IMHO and there is no airflow restriction under the props and thru the airframe...... so I will do mine a bit differently.....

I'm impressed that you employed UltraCote to tidy up the booms. A terrific idea. Easy to apply and shrink, and easy to remove when needed. I wouldn't have thought of it. Your bird looks great.

Yes Ultracote or Monokote versus electrical tape is much lighter.

Very Nice Bird. Well Done. Once I'm comfortable with my stock F450, I may give that a try for improved stability. Thanks for sharing Superketch.
Cheers!

When installed onto the DJI F550 top and bottom plates you get the typical MultiRotor industry 800mm standardized size.....
but they come with their own equivalent sized top/bottom plates c/w internal nylon standoff reinforcements.
Bolt patterns are identical for either set of plates.

What is the overall length of those rctimer arms?

That ultracote is going to create a lot of extra drag in your prop wash. Those arms are designed to let a lot of that cut through the arm itself, so you are loosing some lift and probably creating some vibration compared to not having it on there. It looks neat though.
